About the festival
Znojmo Music Festival brings its audience a wide variety of musical styles and types, connecting the seemingly unconnected and breaking down the boundaries between genres. However, the unifying element and goal of the entire festival is to achieve the highest possible quality and authenticity in all concerts and productions. The axis of the festival is the staging and performance of an opera rehearsed in Znojmo and performed on three evenings of the festival. Each year, the festival is characterised by a tightly knit dramaturgy. All concerts and other accompanying events create a magical atmosphere.
A FESTIVAL LIKE WINE…
Znojmo Music Festival also tries to combine attractive music with the delicious wine of the Znojmo region. All concerts are accompanied by wine tasting of regional wineneries. The event brings together nearly two dozens of winemakers, who conduct wine tastings and wine talks at the concerts. The festival also includes a unique limited edition of festival wines. A unique collection of the best wines is selected by a committee of sommeliers, winemakers and festival celebrities. Moreover, since good wine is accompanied by delicious food, several Znojmo restaurants are preparing special festival menus.
THE BEAUTY OF ZNOJMO AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
The festival also focuses on combining quality music with the rare historical architecture of Znojmo. The concerts are largely held outdoors, when the weather allows it, and try to showcase places where concerts are not normally held. Among the exceptional places are undoubtedly the renaissance chateau in Uherčice, the Podyjí National Park, the courtyards of historical houses or the town hall tower.
CONCERTS AND ACCOMPANYING EVENTS
A number of concerts during the festival offer a musical experience for everyone – whether they are concerts by small talented artists, renowned soloists, chamber concerts, concerts across genres or jazz concerts. The festival also includes a popular accompanying programme for adults and the little ones – music in the streets, meetings on the border between the Czech Republic and Austria, children’s music afternoons, a jazz picnic in the Podyjí National Park, organ wanderings in the region, a night carnival, wine tastings and much more.
